From January 30-31, 2007, the Finance Department of the Ministry of Finance (MOF), together with the Development Cooperation Office of Italian Embassy in China (UTL), organized the Working Conference for Italian Government Loans in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Representatives from National Development and Reform Commission, National Auditing Office, Legal Department of MOF, the Export-Import Bank of China, 22 provincial (regional, municipal) DOF and NDRC, and some beneficiaries as well, all together 90 people or so, participated in this conference. Part of the Finance Bureaus and Development and Reform Bureaus in Guangxi (around 30 people) also took part in the conference.
Both the Deputy Director General of Finance Department of the Ministry of Finance (MOF), Mr Yu Zhensheng and Director of the Development Cooperation Office in Beijing, Mr Giorgio Sparaci participated in the conference and delivered a speech on the opening ceremony.
The Italian Experts of PIU elaborated on the project eligibility, potential activities, implementation procedures, loan conditions, bidding and procurement procedures for the Cultural Heritage Programme, Environmental Programme and Health Programme, and briefly introduced the documents to be required for applying the Soft Loan.
During the conference, the participants have listened carefully and posed a lot of questions.
Due to the great importance attached to this conference by both the Finance Department of MOF and UTL, and the great support given by Guangxi DOF as well, this conference has achieved successful results. Some representatives expressed that they would embark on the project application and approval procedures as soon as possible
